Getting rid of Gnats

Gnats have always been a problem in the south, but this year it seems the insects are more annoying than ever.

Whether you're playing tennis, exercising, or working in the yard gnats are everywhere and it's something everyone in the wiregrass is talking about.

"Every time we're outside their just swarming your face...if you stop for three seconds their just swarming you," said Billie Myrick.

"We had been out in the yard doing yard work and it's just horrible....their all around your ears and your eyes and you just can't get away from them," said Gwen Chandler.

There are some simple steps you can take to keep the gnats away when you're outside.

"We're going to have to get some dryer sheets and out them in our hats of something."

"I mean you hear about the dryer sheet thing too, and I think that work a little bit."

"Whether it's using fabric softener or off repellant the gnats are annoying."

Home depot assistant manager John Cassel says insect repellants are flying off the shelves.

"We've been selling a lot of the swamp gator and the deep woods off, and we have to keep on replenishing them every week," says Cassel.

Beverly stopped in home depot after trying to get rid of the gnats in her yard.

"I'm an out door person and you can't go out to sit just for fifteen minutes," says Beverly.

Beverly says she'll try anything to get rid of them the gnats.

"Anything to send them next door, I hate to do that but it's awful, I've got my guns ready."

And getting ready now can save you time and hassle in the future.

You can also use any fragrance that is vanilla scented to help keep gnats away.
