Fuel Tanker Overturns on I-4

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) -- Eastbound lanes of Florida's main east-west corridor have reopened following a crash that involved an overturned fuel tanker.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a tanker truck lost control and crashed into a guardrail Wednesday morning on Interstate 4.

The truck was carrying 8,700 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel and officials say 1,100 gallons or more have leaked onto the road.

FHP says the driver received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Eastbound lanes of I-4 were closed for several hours, but reopened Wednesday afternoon. All eastbound traffic was temporarily diverted onto other roadways to avoid the area while Hazmat and clean-up crews cleared the roadway.
