Fort Bliss Soldier Dies after Afghan Attack

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Fort Bliss soldier from Florida has died in
a military hospital in Germany from gunshot wounds suffered in an
attack in Afghanistan.

A Defense Department statement issued Wednesday says Pvt.
Jalfred D. Vaquerano of Apopka, Fla., died Tuesday in Landstuhl,
Germany.

The Pentagon says he was wounded by enemy small-arms fire while deployed in Logar province of eastern Afghanistan.

The 20-year-old soldier was assigned to 1st Battalion, 41st
Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division
from Fort Bliss, Texas.
