Fla. Toddler Recovering After Shooting Himself

DELAND, Fla. (AP) -- A 2-year-old boy is recovering after police say he accidentally shot himself in the finger with his father's gun.

DeLand police said the boy was at the hospital with his dad at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital when police arrived.

Police spokesman Sgt. Omar McKnight said the hospital notified police after Friday's shooting.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://lb.vg/0g2J4 ) reports the boy is expected to survive but will be kept overnight for observation.

    Let me say this one more time, children are curious. They don't know any better. If you have a pool, medicine, a gun--- you can't leave a child alone with anything that will kill him if he can get to it.You have to be on your toes 24/7. After a child comes to be in your life it's not about you, it's about them. You have to look out for them. This is your job.And the job last till you are in the ground.
