TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- A Miami man could get up to 120 years in prison for participating in an elaborate jewelry theft ring.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Friday that Yenier Cardentey was found guilty on charges of racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, burglary to a structure with excess of $1,000 damage, and grand theft over $100,000.

Cardentey was alleged to be part of a theft ring that broke into stores and stole gold and diamonds.

The thieves allegedly cut holes in store roofs in order to gain entry. Once inside they used torches to cut into the safes. Prosecutors said they hit stores up and down the East Coast and stole $6 million in jewelry.

Eight other people alleged to be part of the jewelry theft ring are still awaiting trial.
