ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a 5-year-old boy was critically injured when he fell off a 10-foot diving board at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs.
Police spokesman Robert Pelton says the boy slid under a handrail Tuesday evening and fell onto the pool deck. He remained in critical condition with head injuries on Wednesday.
Reports suggest the child had recently joined the Patriot Aquatics program and was learning to dive.
The child's name has not been released.
