Fatal Crash after Panama City Police Chase

One person is dead after a police chase Wednesday night in Panama City.

A man who was initially chased by Panama City police lost control of his car in St. Andrew late last night when his car went out of control, crashed into a fire hydrant and into the front porch of a home on west 16th street at Louise Ave.

Indications are PCPD had stopped the car and it sped away at high speed. The police broke off the chase as the motorist fled into a residential neighborhood where he continued at high speed until it finally crashed.

The car contained four people, the driver and three passengers. A female passenger identified only as a "Jane Doe" was killed. It still hasnt been officially been determined who was driving the car.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Its usual policy for the Highway Patrol to investigate traffic crashes in which another law enforcement agency may have been involved.

Troopers were still on the scene at mid morning conducting their investigation.
