The Panama City Police Department is currently investigating a traffic crash involving a commercial motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian did not survive and was pronounced deceased upon arrival at a local hospital. The crash occurred near the intersection of E. 11th Street and Redwood Avenue at approximately 12:09 p.m. Preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a tractor-trailer was east bound on E. 11th Street turning north on Redwood Avenue.
During the turn the pedestrian was struck and received fatal injuries. The intersection remained closed during the investigation until about 5:00 p.m. The driver is identified as Okley Strickland,
59 years of age, and a resident of Holmes County. The pedestrian is identified as Brandy K. Carter, 39 years of age, and a resident of Bay County. Her next of kin has been notified. The
Florida Department of Transportation assisted in the investigation due to a commercial vehicle being involved. The traffic crash remains under investigation; more information will be release as it becomes available.
