FL Board of Education Considering Change

The Florida Board of Education is considering a plan to simplify the way the state grades schools.

Education Commissioner Pam Stewart proposed a plan to remove items that automatically cause a school's grade to drop.

Her plan also removes SAT scores and certain graduation rates from the formula used to evaluate high schools.

Nearly half of all Florida’s High Schools got an "A" grade last year.

Currently, High School grades are based on test scores, graduation rates and college readiness.

Schools receive points based on how many students take college-level courses and how they score on tests like the SAT.
