Early County celebrated MLK day by also paying tribute to the first African American Sheriff in their county.
Sheriff William Price is the first African American Sheriff in Early County.
Elected in 2012, Price says it feels good to reach a milestone in Early County.
Since he's taken office he's spearheaded efforts to help his community.
The sheriff's department organized a Thanksgiving Food Drive, along with providing the early memorial nursing home and the Early County inmate’s kids with a special Christmas.
"I can change the community's views by getting involved with all of the aspects of the community, showing them that law enforcement is for the community and not against the community and build that relationship between the community," said Sheriff William C. Price.
County Commissioner Jeffery Haynes was also elected in 2012, making him the first African American elected to Early County Commission.
