An Alabama driver faces charges of DUI and fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer who had lights and sirens activated.

A press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy was on the lookout for a hit and run driver out of Fort Walton Beach when he spotted a red Mustang matching the car’s description. The car was allegedly driving fast and partially in oncoming lanes of traffic.

Jermiah Dalton Hogeland, 23, was driving the Mustang. Police say the deputy perusing Hogeland was forced off the roadway in order to avoid a collision. Another deputy arrived on the scene and said that Hogeland motioned with his finger as if he was firing a handgun at him.

Hogeland reportedly sped off, driving erratically and running red lights and stop signs while deputies briefly chased him. The pursuit was called off due to Hogeland’s excessive speeds and reckless driving.

A short time later, Hogeland’s car was found in the median on Eglin Parkway in Fort Walton Beach after he crashed into trees.

In addition to the OCSO charges, Hogeland is also reportedly facing charges in Fort Walton Beach and by the Florida Highway Patrol.
