TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Child welfare officials are looking to Florida residents to help make holiday wishes come true for some current and former foster youth.
The Department of Children and Families, their contractors and foster parent association, is partnering with One Simple Wish. The organization matches individuals who want to help with current and former foster children. Wishes start at $10 and can reach a maximum of $500.
Eight-year-old Katie wants roller blades, 3-year-old Tyreisha wants a new baby doll and Tianna, a straight-A high school senior, needs a new pair of running shoes.
Wishes can be granted all year-round. More than 20 wishes have been granted this month. Wishes are searchable by location, organization, child age, price range and type of gift.
