HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. – The Defense Commissary Agency implements policy to carry out employee furloughs for 11 total days, between July 8 and Sept. 30.
As a result of the furloughs, the Hurlburt Field commissary plans to close on Tuesdays during the period. Hurlburt Field’s commissary is currently closed every Monday.
DeCA follows Department of Defense procedures relating to the automatic federal government budget reductions, known as sequestration that began March 1. DeCA is mandated by the DOD to furlough its civil service employees. Furlough notices are scheduled to be delivered to DeCA employees between May 28 and June 5.
Patrons are reminded that because sequestration is so fluid, DeCA's plan for this budget-cutting measure is subject to change.
Commissary customers will still be able to enjoy the same selection of products, savings, sales and services during the days the store is open. Hours are: Wednesdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Additional information about furloughs can be seen through the Defense Commissary Agency announcement at http://www.commissaries.com/press_room/press_release/2013/DeCA_36_13.cfm
