MIAMI (AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton is urging Americans to remember the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks by being a "good citizen" and registering to vote.

Clinton opened a campaign rally with a moment of silence to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks. He said that given their sacrifices, as well as those who fought in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, "the least we can do is show up and vote."

Clinton is holding his first of two campaign events in Florida this week for President Barack Obama. The former president is expected to campaign frequently for Obama throughout the fall.

Clinton says it would be a "bad mistake" for people to sit on the sidelines on Election Day. If you don't vote, he says, "you are responsible for the consequences."
