Brothers go on Crime Spree in Chipley

CHIPLEY, FL--An early morning walk down highway 90 in Chipley wasn't just a normal stroll for two brothers.

Investigators say 16-year-old Zackery Marsh and 18-year-old Tommy Marsh broke into 16 cars all before daylight Monday morning.

"This all happen at the same time period," said Sheriff Haddock.

The brothers got away with several items including three guns from three of the cars.

"We suspect they were looking for money, different things they can sell or pawn," added Haddock.

Another stop during their crime spree was Pik-Quick convenience store.

"We had a couple broken windows, they pulled our wires from our security system so it's down," said Teresa Peacock.

The owner said she arrived at the store to find a mess.

"She actually came out here and noticed the busted out window in the shed, explained peacock, and she went to looking around and found the other damages."

The brothers also attempted to get in through the bathroom because this door was locked they went around the side knocked out this window and as you can see there's still some glass on the ground.

"We had bars and stuff on our windows so we did all right there," added Peacock.

Sheriff Haddock says he credits his overnight deputy with the quick capture and possibly the number of lives saved.

"What worries me is, if somebody who lived at one of these residence had confronted them at that time what might have happened. somebody could have gotten seriously hurt," added Sheriff Haddock.

Investigators along with Chipley police recovered majority of the stolen property and are working to locate the rest.

Investigators say this was the first time the older brother Tommy has been in trouble with the law but it's not for the younger brother Zackery, who's had prior arrests for battery.

Zackery is charged with 13 counts of burglary and both he and Tommy are charged with 3 counts of armed burglary and one count of felony criminal mischief.
