Body Found in Backyard of Man Facing Rape Charge

PORT ORANGE, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say they've found human remains in the backyard of a central Florida man already facing child rape and kidnapping charges.

Port Orange police say 44-year-old James Maxwell is a suspect in the death of the person they found. Officials say they have a good idea of who it is, but they won't release the identity publicly until it's confirmed by a medical examiner. They did confirm that the body was extremely decomposed and had likely been there for more than a year.

Maxwell -- a convicted felon -- has been in jail since December, when authorities say he abducted a 9-year-old girl, drove her to a wooded area and raped her. He then dropped her off the next morning at Port Orange police headquarters.

Volusia County jail records didn't list an attorney for Maxwell.

That poor child, You need to be tied and have your manhood cut off slowly with a rusty jagged edged blade knife. You are a piece of trash to kidnap a child and rape her. That poor baby, just thinking about this makes me sick. While you're in jail maybe you'll live in regret and misery.
