PANAMA CITY, FL. A Bay County man faces a stiff prison sentence after being found guilty of sex crimes against a child.
After deliberating for less than 10 minutes a Bay County jury convicted Michael Sumner of molesting an 11 year old girl.
Investigator Albert Willis of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sumner and charged him with lewd and lascivious molestation for acts occurring between January and March of 2012.
The child victim testified Sumner would sniff on a small, brown bottle then climb into bed and molest her.
Assistant State Attorney, Jennifer Hawkins, told the jury, “The truth is simple. The truth doesn’t change over time. If you believe this courageous girl, this defendant is guilty.”
Judge Brantley S. Clark, Jr. will sentence Sumner on November 1st. Sumner faces 25 years to life in prison.
