ISLAMORADA, Fla. (AP) -- A 19-year-old Alabama high school graduate who is confined to a wheelchair and legally blind has fulfilled a dream by reeling in a 105-pound swordfish off the Florida Keys.
Celebrating his recent high school graduation with his family, Logan Prickett of Montgomery reeled the fish in Saturday while fishing on the Bn'M II with Captain Nick Stanczyk.
In September 2008, Prickett had an almost fatal reaction to intravenous contrast dye administered during an MRI to examine his pituitary gland. He was in a coma for 12 days, was left with severe motor-control deficiencies and couldn't speak above a whisper.
Still, he returned to school and recently graduated among the top 10 students in his high school class.
He is to enter Auburn University's satellite campus in Montgomery in the fall.
