An Alabama woman who was hospitalized after nearly drowning in Panama City Beach over the weekend has died.
42 year old Sonia Westmoreland of Hartselle died Wednesday.
She’d been in critical condition at Bay Medical Center since Sunday night.
Witnesses said Westmoreland had gone into the water to help her daughter and her daughter's friends after they were caught in a rip current.
The girl and her friends returned to shore safely.
Red Flags were flying at the time Westmoreland got into trouble.
