PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida Panhandle woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing her girlfriend at their Pensacola home.
An Escambia County judge sentenced 23-year-old Laquita Lashay Farley on Tuesday. She was convicted of second-degree murder in April.
Farley told investigators that she and 22-year-old Valerie Keil had been arguing all day in June 2009 when Farley eventually told Keil she was leaving. Farley says Keil came at her with a knife in each hand and the two struggled. Farley says she took one of the knives and stabbed Keil multiple times.
Authorities found Farley covered in blood, holding Keil's toddler daughter.
