Animal Control continues half-off adoptions through Valentine’s Day
Bay County Animal Control is extending a special half-priced adoptions rate through Valentine’s Day.
“This is an opportunity for folks to make Valentine’s Day special not just for your significant other, but also for a pet in need of a good home,” Bay County Animal Control Director Jim Crosby said.
The reduced $40 fee includes rabies shots, sterilization, de-worming and flea treatment, a heartworm check and microchipping. Senior citizens normally pay the half-off rate at the shelter, so the fee to seniors is $20 per pet.
Those interested in adopting an animal should visit the shelter, select a new pet and fill out an application. Once approved, the new pet owner will need to arrange to transport his or her animal home safely from the veterinarian after the sterilization is completed.
Crosby said Valentine’s Day gift certificates are available for people who would like to let their loved one pick out their own new pet at the shelter.
The Animal Control Facility is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
