PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A judge has approved the release on bail
of a Florida military police officer accused of killing his
pregnant girlfriend and dumping her body in a bayou.
Bail was set Friday at $500,000 for 25-year-old Zachary
Littleton, a Navy officer stationed in Pensacola. Jail records
showed at midafternoon Friday he remained behind bars.
Littleton is charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 31
death of 25-year-old Samira Watkins. Her body was found Nov. 3 in a
duffel bag along the bayou's shore, her face covered in duct tape.
Littleton has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police say Littleton, who is married, was the father of Watkins'
unborn child and wanted her to get an abortion.
