USF Lockdown Update

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - University of South Florida police say one person is in custody, shortly after receiving a report of a possible gunman on campus.

The agency has requested the Tampa police's bomb team to respond regarding the individual's belongings. This comes about 90 minutes after authorities say they received an off-campus call regarding a gunman near the library.

Whether the suspect is linked to the earlier report was not immediately clear.

An alert posted on USF's Web site Monday afternoon said people on campus should stay inside and lock doors while officers search the area. USF police said they were investigating a report of a suspect armed with a bomb and a gun in the library area.

The agency said they received further information of a subject on a bus in the area of the Parking and Transportation Services.

USF police were attempting to locate and secure the area.
