Boy, 12, Pleads Not Guilty in Death of Cousin, 10

BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - A 12-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty to
charges of manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a minor in
the shooting death of his 10-year-old cousin just before Christmas
last year.

The child entered the plea Monday afternoon at a hearing in Polk
County's Juvenile Court.

The Associated Press is withholding the boy's name because he is
a juvenile.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office has said 10-year-old Miracle Johnson was playing with several young relatives in a bedroom at her home in Fort Meade when she was shot with a semiautomatic hand gun.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the home about 50 miles southeast
of Tampa.

No further details about the charges were immediately available.
