Crist names replacement for Okaloosa sheriff

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Crist appointed Ed Spooner interim sheriff of Okaloosa County on Friday.

Spooner has already been heading the sheriff's office since February, when Charles Morris was suspended.

An audit of Morris found he bought himself 41 new cars during 12
years in office.

He frequently traded vehicles and spent more than $170,000 in public money buying GMC Envoys, Chevrolet Impalas and other cars.

Crist suspended Morris after FBI agents arrested him during a
Las Vegas gambling trip.

Spooner will serve out a term that ends in November 2010.
