TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Legislative budget chiefs have agreed
that state workers making $45,000 and more will take a 2 percent pay cut.
That will save the state $30 million and help balance a budget
that's expected to top $65 billion for the fiscal year beginning
The pay cut was one of the last major sticking points Sunday in
talks between House and Senate budget leaders.
The House also agreed to drop budget provisions that would have
banned using state dollars for university embryonic stem cell research and student trips to Cuba and other terrorist-linked countries.
