School bus driver accused of punching student

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville school bus driver is accused of punching a high school student in the face during a fight on the bus.

The driver is not being named because she has not been charged, but the driver is on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police said a fight broke out on a school bus at Andrew Jackson High School Wednesday morning. They said the 45-year-old bus driver was telling another official that a student needed to be escorted off the bus when the student began swearing at her. An officer at the school saw the driver grab the student by the shirt and hit her in the face.

Police said the driver told officers she never touched the student and only grabbed her when the student grabbed her first.
