MIAMI (AP) - Officials in Miami have indicted a man once
considered one of the country's most wanted environmental crime
According to a news release, Larkin Baggett was charged with
assaulting law enforcement officers and illegally possessing eight
firearms while he was a fugitive from the District of Utah on an
environmental crimes prosecution.
The charges stem from a March shooting in which Baggett,
formerly of Salt Lake City, was wounded. He was shot after pointing
a loaded rifle at officers in the Florida Keys.
Baggett had been charged in federal court in Utah with
violations of federal hazardous waste and clean water laws. He was
one of 23 people included on the Environmental Protection Agency's
new Web-based list of fugitives.
It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
