LAKE WORTH, Fla. (AP) - Palm Beach County authorities say a man drowned at Lake Worth beach after swimming about 200 yards from the shore.
According to a news release, emergency crews were called to the scene at about 6:30 p.m. Monday.
A 15-year-old boy went in the water to try and help the swimmer, but could not bring him back to the beach. Then a man with a surf board tried to find the man in the water, but couldn't locate him. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office used a helicopter to locate the man and fire-rescue authorities helped take him ashore.
A death investigation is underway.
