BELLE GLADE, Fla. (AP) - Florida's annual sugar cane harvest has
ended as two of the state's major producers wrapped up their
season.

Officials say total production was just over 1.5 million tons of raw sugar, slightly below last year's harvest.

Officials say the crop yields were hurt by several days of freezing temperatures, drought conditions and a spate of heavy rains.

Florida Crystals, headquartered in West Palm Beach and part owner of such well-known brands as Domino Sugar, produced 622,441
tons of sugar.

Clewiston-based U.S. Sugar produced 617,000 tons.

Both companies ended the harvest this week.

The Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Belle Glade finished its harvest in February, producing 300,811 tons of sugar.
