Florida veterans named knights of French Legion of Honor

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - Four World War II veterans in the
Florida Panhandle have been named knights of the French Legion of
Honor.

Bob Piner and Hy Wakstein of Panama City and Jack Hanson of Lynn
Haven fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Buster Bolles of Panama City Beach fought in southern France.

Napoleon Bonaparte established the Legion of Honor in 1802 as
the highest award given by the French Republic for outstanding
service to France.

It is not awarded posthumously.
