St. Petersburg, Fla. (AP) - St. Petersburg Police say the death of Paris Whitehead-Hamilton appears to be an act of retaliation and not a random act of violence.
The girl was sleeping in the front of the house Sunday morning at 2:24 a.m. when someone outside fired multiple shots from a semiautomatic rifle.
At least one of the bullets entered the house and struck the girl.
She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
Several adults and one other child were also home at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.
Authorities are interviewing several people to determine a motive.
