Lawmakers bring immigration tour to Fla.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart says parents living in the U.S. illegally should be punished but separating them from their U.S.-born children is unreasonable.

Diaz-Balart (R-Miami) was one of four U.S. representatives to speak to a crowd of nearly 1,000 gathered in the farm community of Homestead, just south of Miami Sunday, as part of a 17-city tour advocating immigration reform.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus leader Luis Gutierrez, (D-Il) is touring the country listening to the stories of immigrants at events organized by local community groups and churches.

Gutierrez says his goal is to "hold the president's feet to the fire," and remind administration large numbers of those who voted for him want immigration reform.
