MIAMI (AP) - The prosecution's case against Brazilian race
driver and "Dancing With The Stars" winner Helio Castroneves is
nearing an end in Miami federal court.
Prosecutors expect to rest Friday after nearly four weeks of testimony.
Then it will be up to the defense to put on a case for Castroneves, his business manager-sister and a Michigan lawyer.
All three are facing more than six years in prison if convicted
of tax evasion and conspiracy involving $5.5 million.
Prosecutors have used witnesses and documents in an attempt to show Castroneves sought to illegally shelter his money overseas and eventually move to Monaco to escape U.S. income taxes.
The defendants deny wrongdoing. Castroneves has said he relied
on professionals to handle his finances.
