FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A 12-year-old girl has been taken
to the hospital after a storm drain grate she was standing on gave
way near Fort Lauderdale.
The girl was waiting for her school bus Tuesday morning when the
The drain is about 10-feet deep.
The grate became wedged and the girl, who was not identified, held onto the top.
Bystanders immediately pulled her out.
Broward County Sheriff's authorities say the girl was conscious
when rescuers arrived.
She received minor bumps and bruises.
