Officials: Fugitive from Ga. and Tenn. Is Arrested

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a fugitive from Georgia
and Tennessee was arrested in the parking lot of a central Florida
Wal-Mart in a stolen tractor-trailer.

Christopher Daniel Gay had escaped in Kennesaw, Ga., during
transportation to Tennessee to face charges of stealing a trailer
in January 2007. He also is accused of stealing country singer
Crystal Gayle's tour bus.

In Lakeland Monday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office reports
that Gay jumped out of the rig onto the hood of a patrol vehicle
and tried to run away, but he was immediately caught.

Gay was the main character in a 2007 song by bluegrass picker
Tim O'Brien. News reports and O'Brien's song say Gay stole a
trailer and tried to visit his mother who was dying of cancer. She
died weeks later, and he never saw her.
