TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The federal "homeless czar" says
Florida is in line for about $680 million from the stimulus package
and other programs to help people who no longer have a place to
live.

Philip Mangano, executive director of the United States
Interagency Council on Homelessness, met Wednesday with Gov.
Charlie Crist.

To help Florida get that money, he asked Crist to do two things.
One is to refocus the state's homeless commission on families
who have lost or may soon lose their homes due to foreclosure.

The other is to call a meeting of cities and counties with
10-year homelessness plans to share information and learn about
what works best.

Crist agreed to both, Mangano said after the meeting.
