LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A former Florida doctor has been sentenced
to 2 1/2 years after admitting that Kentucky residents went to his
clinic in Florida for pain pills and that he knew they would likely
sell the pills illegally.
Prosecutors said Monday that U.S. District Judge David Bunning
sentenced 52-year-old former Coral Springs doctor Roger Browne and
ordered three years of supervised release for Browne.
Prosecutors say several of the Kentucky defendants in the case went to Florida numerous times to get oxycodone prescriptions from Browne.
Also sentenced in the case were nine eastern Kentuckians, to periods ranging from time served to 21 months. Another defendant is to be sentenced in May.
