TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Rep. Larry Cretul is now officially speaker of the Florida House.
State representatives unanimously voted Tuesday to make Cretul speaker as its first action of the annual 60-day session.
The Republican from Ocala replaces Ray Sansom, who resigned the post following questions about his high-paying job at Northwest Florida State College. Sansom took the job after securing tens of millions of dollars for the school.
Cretul has essentially served as speaker for the past month, but couldn't officially assume the position until after the House gave its approval while in session.
