Man faces charges in prostitution ring

MIAMI (AP) - Federal investigators say a Miami Beach man forced immigrant women to work as prostitutes throughout the U.S.

According to a 20-page indictment unsealed last week, 34-year-old Rafael "Marco" Bernabe-Caballero, who ran, flew women from Miami to meet clients in Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland and Washington, D.C.

The women wouldn't know they were expected to have sex with men for money until they arrived at the hotel room. The indictment says that's when Bernabe-Caballero would tell them what they had to do.

If they resisted, he would threaten the women and their families with violence or deportation.

Bernabe-Caballero was being held at a federal detention center without bail set. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning about extradition to Michigan.
