On Thursday, Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an attempted sexual battery in south Washington County.
Investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and initial investigation revealed an 8-year-old girl had been playing in the front yard of her home when 19-year-old Matthew Kinsey, who lived in the area, lured the child into a nearby wooded area and exposed himself to the child.
The victim screamed and Kinsey fled the area.
The victim returned home and notified her parents of the incident and the parents in turn notified the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Kinsey was arrested and charged with attempted sexual battery of a child under 12 years of age.
Kinsey is currently incarcerated at the Washington County Jail and bond has not been set at this time.
