TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay has been reopened after being closed to boating traffic because of a fuel spill.
Authorities say a fishing trawler and a barge collided in the bay Thursday night, spilling about 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel into the water.
According to the Coast Guard, the vessels collided about two miles northwest of Manbirtee Key near the Sunshine Skyway bridge.
Fog and darkness hampered initial attempts to clean up the spill.
