An apple from, not for, the teacher

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) - Police on Florida's east coast arrested an 18-year-old for stealing a decorative apple from his teacher's desk and refusing to give it back.

Port St. Lucie High School student Dylan Morrison, 18, was arrested for petty theft and disruption of a school function on Tuesday. Both are misdemeanors.

Officers said Morrison was playing with a spring and when his teacher confiscated it he took a red, glass apple from the teacher's desk. Officers told him he would face charges if he didn't return the apple.

Morrison responded, "So what, I'm not leaving without my spring," according to a report.

Officers took a picture of the apple as evidence. Morrison has been released from jail.
