TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Incoming House Speaker Larry Cretul has named the Senate's former top lawyer to investigate an ethics complaint against his predecessor.
Rep. Ray Sansom, R-Destin, stepped down amid questions about a job he got - and later resigned - at a state college after funneling millions to the school.
Cretul, R-Ocala, appointed Stephen Kahn, who had been the Senate's general counsel, as special investigator Friday.
Kahn will look into a citizen's complaint alleging Sansom violated House rules that require members to perform their duties with integrity, comply with the law and promote public confidence in the Legislature.
A grand jury also is investigating.
