Former police officer charged in bank robbery

HIALEAH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a former South Florida
police officer - the son of a former police chief - is free on bond
after allegedly robbing a bank.

Hialeah police report that 36-year-old Rolando A. Bolanos Jr.
was charged Wednesday morning with strong-armed bank robbery.
Police say security cameras caught the former officer accepting a
stack of cash from a BankAtlantic teller Monday morning. Police say
he handed the bank teller a note demanding money but did not show a
weapon.

Police say the black Mercedes Benz driven away from the robbery
belonged to Bolanos.

Bolanos' attorney says his client maintains his innocence.

Bolanos worked for the Hialeah Police Department from 1997 to
2003.

He posted $7,500 bond late Wednesday.
