Marianna police identify car theft suspect

On Saturday, 02-07-2009, at 09:35 AM units of the Marianna Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle being stolen from the parking lot of the Big Little store in Marianna.

The victim / owner of the stolen vehicle; a 1995 teal color Z71 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck, had pulled into the parking lot to buy vegetables from the roadside vendor. The driver, Michael Gale of Marianna, left his vehicle running while he was purchasing the vegetables.

While the driver’s attention was focused on his purchase an unknown heavy set white male with brown hair, blue jeans, olive colored shirt with navy blue sleeves; jumped in the driver seat of the truck and sped off East on Lafayette St. and was last seen turning South on Milton Ave.

Below are pictures captured from the stores security video system. If anyone encounters this suspect do not approach. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.

The Marianna Police Department asked for help from the public and did receive that help early this morning with a positive identification of the suspect. The suspect is John Christopher Drew of 4478 Colonel St. Marianna Fl. 32448.

A criminal complaint for Grand Theft Auto and the subsequent issuing of an arrest warrant based on this positive identification will be filed. The suspect is still at large, and the vehicle has not yet been located.
