At about 3:00 Monday morning, The clerk on duty at the Nugget Store located at the corner of Tyndall Parkway and Highway 22 in Callaway called the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and reported that the store had just been robbed.
Sean Bryan Burnham reported that a black male entered the store and walked around for a short period of time before coming up to the counter and stating " it will go real bad if you don’t give me all the money."
Burnham initially stated he never saw a gun, but gave the black male all the money in the store, including the cash in an envelope that was waiting to be put in the safe.
Burnham then told deputies the man fled on foot, traveling north on Tyndall Parkway.
When the robbery was reported, a BCSO deputy was less than a block away and was at the store in under a minute. He never saw a black male fleeing the scene.
Criminal Investigations responded and brought Burnham to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office to speak with him.
Burnham changed his story and stated the black male never entered the store but brandished a handgun and had Burnham bring him all the cash outside. Burnham eventually stated to investigators he took some of the money.
Burnham has been working at the store since last September.
Burnham, DOB 1/21/86, of 322 Burkett Drive was arrested and charged with False Report of a Crime and Grand Theft.
