9 middle school students sickened by Xanax

PALM SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say nine Palm Springs
Middle School students became ill after taking Xanax at school.

Police say one student bought the prescription anti-anxiety
pills from older teens Tuesday morning and then either handed them
out or sold them to the other students. As they took the pills
throughout the day, the students ended up in the school clinic.

Police say one student was taken by ambulance to a nearby
hospital, and another student was driven to the hospital by the
student's parents.

Police and school officials continue to investigate.
