Cruise line donates unused toiletries to homeless center considering cutting off soap supply

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A cruise line is donating unused
toiletries to a South Florida homeless center that had considered
cutting off its soap supply.

The Cooperative Feeding Program in Fort Lauderdale says it
doesn't have the money to buy soap for the center's two showers.

Holland America is donating half-used or unused bottles of
shampoo, conditioner and shower gel that passengers leave behind in
their cabins. Normally, those items would be thrown away.

The homeless center is rationing the donations in paper cups to
people taking showers.

The cruise line started making the donations in Seattle in April
and in Fort Lauderdale last month.
