Military skydiver lands in Tampa lake

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Emergency officials say a military skydiver
was taken to a Tampa hospital after landing in a lake near MacDill
Air Force Base.

Rescue crews from the base, Tampa Fire Rescue and Tampa Police
Department were called to the lake Thursday morning.

Fire Rescue Capt. Bill Wade told The Tampa Tribune that the man
was found about 15 feet underwater. Wade said it appeared that the
skydiver, who was wearing his uniform and parachute harness,
started to swim after he landed in the lake but then went under the
water.
